- If the throw is not accurate enough to win the contest with a ippon then the attacker will ‘follow down’ into groundwork in order to try to pin the opponent square on the shoulders for upto 30seconds which is enough to win.
The Judo outfit or suit known as a ‘Gi’, and is much heavier and a stronger weive than any other martial arts suit due to the amount of pulling and forces on the Gi. Karate or kung foo style Gi’s will not last and are guarrenteed to rip apart very quickly.
